Caregility Advances Hybrid Care for Every Patient Bedside: Announcing Inpatient Virtual Engagement Solution at HIMSS22

New low-acuity telehealth video endpoint and subscription-based solution-as-a-service offerings enable affordable inpatient hybrid care delivery at scale.

EATONTOWN, N.J. – Mar. 9, 2022 – Caregility, an enterprise telehealth market leader dedicated to connecting care for patients and clinicians everywhere, announced a transformative integrated clinical solution that complements inpatient care with virtual engagement to enable hybrid care delivery at every patient bedside. At the core of the subscription-based solution-as-a-service (SaaS) are three purpose-built components: the company’s new Access Point of Care System (APS100) for lower acuity patient settings, a first-of-its-kind administration portal to centralize multiple telehealth programs, and a fleet management tool for governing thousands of telehealth endpoint devices. Inpatient Virtual Engagement (IVE) offers providers the industry’s first cost-effective option for bedside hybrid care delivery at scale – every room, every bed, every patient.

Hybrid care at the patient bedside creates value by increasing the frequency, timeliness, and thoroughness of clinical intervention and engagement while reducing clinical blind spots and potential gaps in care. As healthcare teams grapple with the ongoing staffing crisis, IVE reduces staff burnout by facilitating virtual specialty coverage, tele-rounding, tele-nursing, and tele-observation to enrich patient care and clinical collaboration. IVE enables earlier detection of patient deterioration, enhancing rapid response aimed at improving patient outcomes. IVE also fits into the patient enablement paradigm, providing patients with timely access to their clinical team, interpreters, and family members, to reduce anxiety, improve communication, and speed the recovery process.

“We have only scratched the surface of how virtual engagement can bolster inpatient care delivery,” observed Caregility President and COO Mike Brandofino. “Virtual care kept staff and patients safe during the pandemic, and today is being used to augment the efforts of overburdened care teams. Tele-nursing and the ability to extend satellite or referral telehealth resources into rural and underserved medical communities represent just a couple of ways telehealth can be intelligently deployed to continue driving value in healthcare.”

Recognized by its customers as the Best in KLAS Virtual Care Platform (Non-EMR) in 2021 and 2022, Caregility Cloud™ found early success in high-acuity inpatient use cases, including tele-ICU and high-risk patient observation. As healthcare providers reimagine the “hospital room of the future,” the demand for video in every room requires reimagining as well. Caregility’s IVE solution combines diversified telehealth endpoints, cloud-based software, and sophisticated device management into a cost-effective SaaS offering. For roughly the cost of a cell phone per month per bed, health systems can support dozens of virtual care workflows without the normal upfront expense associated with inpatient virtual care programs.

“Deploying a multi-purposed, single-access point of care system in every patient room eliminates the need to roll a cart or hand-carry a tablet into rooms for each different telehealth program,” said Caregility Chief Strategy Officer Pete McLain. “That same access point can be used for tele-rounding in the morning, family visits at noon, tele-nursing in the afternoon, and tele-observation at night. The ROI for IVE is achieved through time-saving efficiencies, better patient coverage, and the use of a single system across multiple virtual care programs.”

Caregility Named to Inc.’s 2021 Best in Business List in Health Services

EATONTOWN, N.J.,Dec. 9, 2021/PRNewswire/ —Caregility, a company dedicated to connecting care for patients everywhere, has been named to Inc.’s 2021 Best in Business list in the Health Services category. The Inc. Best in Business Awards honor companies that have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact in their industry.

The list, which can be found in the Winter issue of Inc. Magazine (on newsstands December 14), recognizes small- and medium-size privately held American businesses that have had an outstanding influence on their communities, their industries, the environment, or society as a whole.

Caregility was recognized for its efforts to help clinicians provide excellent care while keeping staff, visitors, and patients safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Those efforts include the introduction of a free app to keep isolated hospital patients connected with family and loved ones, new interpreter service integrations to support health equity in virtual patient engagement, and the launch of a frontline healthcare worker recognition program and annual healthcare scholarship fund.

Scott Omelianuk, Editor-in-Chief of Inc., noted, “What began for us during the pandemic as an effort to showcase companies that were helping the community has grown into a recognition of social, environmental, and economic impact. The companies on this year’s list are changemakers with heart – and they’re pouring the best of their business into the people and communities around them.”

“The past 18 months have brought unprecedented safety and staffing challenges to hospital care teams across the nation. Caregility is honored to play a role in supporting the virtual care needs of patients and healthcare providers,” responded Ron Gaboury, CEO of Caregility. “We are grateful to Inc. for this recognition and our healthcare customers for their partnership and continued efforts.”

Rather than relying on quantitative criteria tied to sales or funding, Inc.’s editors reviewed the companies’ achievements over the past year and noted the extent to which they made a positive difference. They then selected honorees in more than 49 different industries – from finance to software to engineering to fashion, and more – and in age-based and revenue-based categories. The applicant pool was extremely competitive, with around 2,700 entries. Honorees for gold, silver, bronze, and general excellence across industries and categories are featured at inc.com/best-in-business.

New App, TeleHome, Connects Hospitalized COVID Patients With Loved Ones

Caregility and COVID Tech Connect developed the free, user-friendly, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing solution to support patient access to virtual hospital visits and other COVID-related calls

Eatontown, N.J. – May 20, 2021 – With a mission of connecting isolated COVID-19 patients to their loved ones, Caregility and COVID Tech Connect announce the launch of TeleHome, a free, HIPAA-compliant, video conferencing app. The new app makes it easy for healthcare professionals and caregivers to assist patients in setting up virtual visitations with family and friends. The app is now available free for download in the Google Play and Apple stores. To use the app, healthcare professionals can request free user accounts through the TeleHome website.

Since its inception in March 2020, COVID Tech Connect has donated 15,000 smart devices to hospitals and care facilities in all 52 states and territories across the nation. These efforts were made possible, in part, from more than $4 million in charitable donations — including a grant from Google.org, and financial donations from an anonymous donor and thousands of individuals via the project’s GoFundMe campaign — to further the mission of connecting patients with loved ones, on any device, anywhere.

“TeleHome was born out of a need for caregivers to virtually connect patients with their families, without compromising hospital security measures,” said Anjali Kumar, co-founder of COVID Tech Connect. “After speaking with over 1,000 hospitals who received device donations from us, it quickly became clear that healthcare professionals needed a user-friendly, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing solution. We sought the expertise of Caregility to design a software solution that would complement our hardware donations to further serve our mission of connecting COVID-19 patients in isolation to loved ones safely and securely.”

Unlike other video conferencing services, TeleHome can connect isolated patients with loved ones on any device. Developed in partnership with industry telehealth veteran Caregility, the new HIPAA-compliant app ensures that patient privacy is protected and that no patient data is stored on the device. Video calls made through TeleHome are hosted on a Web browser, making it easy for family and friends to join without having to download an app or log in. Caregility donated engineering resources and technical infrastructure to make TeleHome possible.

Benefits of TeleHome include:

“We wholeheartedly support the mission of COVID Tech Connect to help COVID-19 patients meet virtually with their loved ones during quarantine,” said Pete McLain, chief strategy officer at Caregility. “We are humbled and honored to do our part in launching the TeleHome app and making it available for free.”

“With visitations shut down, it has been very hard on our patients and their families, as well as on our staff,” said Marianna Harris, CEO of Osborne County Memorial Hospital. “The devices we received from COVID Tech Connect will enable us to provide a deeply needed connection for our patients and their loved ones, giving us all a sense of normalcy during these trying times. Now with the new TeleHome app, our staff can easily support this connection in a safe and secure way, anytime and anywhere, for years to come.”
